"I am interested in students who are passionate about technology and learning," said Allison Mabry, a recruiter at CoStar Group, while speaking to a group of students at a networking event for computer scientific discipline students held on Virginia Tech's Blacksburg campus on Sept. 15.
The networking action took place the evening prior to the Section of Computer science Resources Consortium fall career fair. Premier-level companies, including Amazon, Eastman Chemical, Mitre Corporation, and Solers, a Peraton Company, were provided with an opportunity to hold information sessions for students the day earlier the career off-white in social club to interact with them, provide all-time practices for professional person interviewing, and ways to make a lasting impression.
"These scholarships have provided me a ways to not worry about my finances," said Ankita Khera, a senior majoring in computer science. "And that's a huge relief."
In add-on to corporate-funded scholarships, Khera, along with Cynthia Zhang, also a senior majoring in figurer science, are the recipients of scholarships supported by individual donors. The Kirsteins, along with other friends of the section, established the Anne and George Gorsline Endowed Scholarship in Computer Science in 2012.

"A lot of times you use online and you don't know if your application has entered a black hole," said Amos. "By attending the career fair, I know they are looking at my physical resume and are not just seeing my face up but my potential."
In add-on, Handshake allows companies to mail jobs, hold information sessions, and interview students on campus.

"I am going to share my strengths and experiences. Many of the recruiters here today were where I am now, and so they have an emotional connexion."
